Mmmm pizza night! On Friday nights we do pizza every single week. It’s everyone’s favorite. Sometimes I have to order in, but mostly we manage homemade. After much trial and error and practice practice practice we have come up with a fully ancient grain (spelt) dough that’s just as good as conventional (well, almost :p).
It’s also the night we relax the rules about only eating at the table and let chaos ensue in the living room (dependent on how many kids are with us that night and what ages they are at least) and watch a movie or some Star Trek. Check out that pizza cutter.
The best thing about it as a mom, however, is that it is very motivating for the family! Pizza night creates such a celebratory mood that everyone comes together happily at the end of a long week and decompresses together. Plus, it gives me a chance to say “Hey! Get these backpacks organized, and living room toys picked up, and these groceries put away — when everything’s sorted out I’ll meet you in the living room with the pizza.”
