Sometimes the very best thing about the weekend is the food.
And sometimes Polar Bear makes bagels from scratch (wife swoon!). He’s refining his recipe and will be ready to share it soon. They are just perfectly chewy, soft, so fresh and miraculously eggless and made of ancient grains. It’s like heaven.
It was also Girls’ Brunch weekend (which occurs once a month) and instead of meeting at a restaurant we met at my house. I made ancient grain waffles with The Minimalist Baker’s truly fantastic vegan waffle recipe (although mine weren’t gluten-free – I replaced the gf flour amount with light spelt). And the girls brought toppings and sides. Gorgeous!
Big Son’s godfather came by later that afternoon to help Polar Bear with some garage renovations, and was very pleased to find and devour the last of the waffle feast.
The garage is a major annoyance and recurring issue at our house. This photo actually shows the garage after getting rid of many many car loads of stuff. But we are absolutely committed to purging, organizing and getting our car in there this month! More on this saga later.
After the stress of looking at the garage I needed to organize something that I could finish in under an hour, so I dealt with my rather extensive spice drawer. I totally forgot to take a before photo, but here is the result, after much sneezing, wiping and refilling. Since I go through a lot of spices I find most spice jars too small so I like to use 8 oz mason jars.
Hope you had a great weekend too!
